In this paper, space frame and layered soil are treated as parts of a singlecontinuous system and an interactive analysis method is presented using finiteelement method and finite layer method. The seulement of the foundation and theintemal force of the frame are calculated with different stiffoess of the superstructureand the pile-soil supporting system. Comparing with the conventional method, interactive meti1od is more security and economy designing frame smicture. In thepast, the supersmicture was considered as a single element whose bottom was fixedon the foundation. Apparelltly this approximately approach was unsuitable well forthe real structure, so the design was insecurity. In the analysis of this paper spaceframe is divided into space beam e1ement; layered foundation is dived into finite layer, the stchess of a wile fpi1e is determined by P-S curve. Based on the principle ofinteraction between soil and structure, the program for space frarne and pileinteractive anaiysis has been coded in FORTRAN 77. A ten-storey space fraine onpile ground is analyzed using the prograxn, considering several factors such as thechange of beam heigh, Some forresting results, which may be useful in practicaldesign, are obtalned.
