This paper emphasizes on the construction control of concrete arch bridge, which is constructed by the precast segmental cantilever method. Through analyzing this new erection method, it is considered that the cable forces directly influence the stresses of arch rib sections and the deflections of the arch axis, in addition, the stress of the arch rib section is the key factor in construction control. On basis of the character of the structure at the stage of construction, the stress balanced method was developed to decided the forces of cables and the stresses of the arch rib sections, which is according to the normal stress controlling conditions on the top and bottom of arch rib section and considering the influence matrix. Then, this paper presents a program, which is used to analyze the construction control of Modong Hongshuihe arch bridge. The calculated values coincide with the measured data and closely agree with the results obtained by other references. It was thus confirmed that the stress balanced method is effective and reliable in practice. Finally, a theoretical model of Mohong Hongshuihe bridge was presented. on the basis of this simple but effective model, the spatial finite element program Super SAP was used to analyze the plane stress of the whole structure and some key sections, which helped to know the stress distribution of the arch rib more clearly. At the same time, some meaningful results are obtained.
