Numerical methods and the application in hydrodynamiccomputation has been made good progress with the rapidcomputer industry in recent years, The finite-volume solutionmethod using colocated grids, which is a new and advancednumerical method, has been applicated in the widely range ofspaceflight. energy and the others etc., but only have a few of theresemble study reference in hydrodynamic and river dynamiccomputation, that can be seen these years. Succeful applications offinite-volume solution method using colocated grids in hydro-dynamic computation in the present paper. Specific work is asfollows:Firstly, numerical grid generation technique and colocatedgrid technique are reviewed. The SIMPLE algorithm with Carte-sian coordinates and non-orthogonal rectilinear coordinates usingcolocated grids, which is used to handle the problem of pressure-velocity coupling, are described in detail.Secondly, the common governing equations of two-dimensi-onal incompressible fluid flow are set up, the finite differenceequations are obtained by control volume, Singal equation issoluted by ADI method, and the under-relaxation factor is used tohandle the different variables.Thirdly, the standered SIMPLE algorithm of Patankar forsolving tWo-dAnensional elliPtic kind equations in orthogonal coo-rdinates is developed, A gerneral comPuter program for solvingequations goveming the laxninar flows and tubulent flows usingcolocated grids in orthogonal coordinates is built. Three kinds oflaminar flow are emPloyed to determine the SIMPLE program:(l)laminar flow in parallel plate;(2)laminar flow over a backward facing steP flows,(3)laminar flow of natural convection in a square cavity;the results of computation demonstrate faVourable agreement withthe reference theory results. Finally, the tubulent flow in parallel plate is comPuted usingstandered k- E model with this program, the results indicate that theparameters distfibution of velocity, tubulent energy k, tubulentdissipation rate E and the waIl pressure is reasonable, and thepridictions is satisfaction.
