The flame retardant and smoke suppressant effects of the composite flame retardant systen, which is formed mainly by magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)2), stibium trioxide(Sb2O3), decabromodiphhenyl oxide ( DBDPO), zine oxide (ZnO), SHZ-l,on the PVC cable compound were studied .Results of orthgonal experiment designs,uniformal experiment designs,variance analysis and regression analysis showed that there were synergistic action among the flame retardants,especially between Mg(OH)2 and Sb2O3, ZnO and SHZ-1.Because of flame retardants would bring about flame retardance. Result of TGA showed that the thermal degradation temperature of the composite flame retardant was 343.4 -429.5,the weight loss rat was 19.2%,while those of? were 326.4-418.7 "Cand 23.9% respectively.The composite flame retardant were applied to PVC soft cable compound, result in superior flame retardant and smoke suppression with both the mechanical properties and the properties of the cable compound come up to national standards and also good procession performance, thus solves the problem of the contradiction better flame retardant and mechanical properties caused by adding a great amount of inorganic flame retardant.The final conclusion is,1. Regression equations of the PVC cable compound composite flame retardant system were set up by designing the experiment process by applying mathematics statistic method and analyzing the data by computer software;The regression equation of the smoke suppression amount is,The regression equation of the oxygen index is,By analyzing the comprehensive properties of the composite flame retardant and smoke suppressant system with the above two equations, formula for cable compound with flame retardant, smoke surpression,better comprehensiveproperties and moderate price can be obtained for practical promotion and application.2. More excellent thermal stabilizer system and lubricant system were screened in the flame retardance system. That is while the composite stabilizer is 6-8 phr, it is more excellent than dibasic lead phosphite and tribasic lead sulfate, while the cadmium stearate is 1.5 phr, and the barium Stuart is 1.0 phr, the plasticlization effect and the process performance are better.3. Normal grade cable compound with excellent comprehensive properties were obtained by series of experiments.
