In this paper, the potential storage system (P-S-S) using H2O/LiBr as working fluid is discussed. The feasibility of P-S-S is analyzed in both technologic and economic aspects. After analyzing the working process, the calculation model of the cycle is proposed. Parameters and the performance coefficient are calculated in two typical work conditions of refrigeration and heating. The results show that in the same conditions the energy storage density of P-S-S using LiBr/H2O as working fluid can reach 587.2MJ/m3, which is much higher than the densities of the systems using water, ice or eutetic as working fluid. The relationships between the energy storage density, cop, the rate of crystallization and the solution concentration difference, the temperature of cooling water are also discussed in the paper.Calculation models of the initial investment and operating cost of different air conditioning systems are given. According to economics knowledge, several economic indicators are proposed. After using the ice storage system and P-S-S separately in an office building in Beijing, it is proved that P-S-S can yield good economic returns. At last, the influences of the rate of energy storage, solution concentration differences and the temperature of cooling water to economic indicators are discussed. The conclusions of the paper can provide some theoretical references for deep research work.
