This paper concentrates on lithium ion battery safety study, database structure study and high rates discharge phenomena study.Lithium ion batteries' safety, especially large lithium ion batteries' safety, is the most important to manufacturer and user. By discussing the effect of batteries components (such as active materials, electrolytes, binders), manufacturing processes, using conditions, and so on, some information about designing and manufacturing lithium ion batteries can be learned.Lithium ion batteries' databases are required by the lithium ion batteries test systems and management systems. Voltage, current and capacity have certain stable relationships, and can be used as the basic factors to build the batteries database. Test programs, batteries' life, temperature and temperature distributions have some relationships and quick evaluating systems and accelerating systems may be found on them.The lithium ion cells cannot discharge fully at large current discharge process in some cases. By using IR Thermal Imaging systems, EIS, XRD, The relationships of temperatures, impedances, discharge capabilities and negatives structures are found. It can give a light into the design of lithium ion batteries for EV/HEV.
