With the increasing of vehicle speed, the effect of the aerodynamics on the vehicle handling and stability becomes more and more important. The experiments cost a lot of money and time. The developing process and experiment times of a new automobile could be reduced by computer simulation. So the research of the high-speed vehicle side-wind stability with computer simulation is significantly helpful. To study the dynamics of vehicle, the key point is to build a accurate model. With the great improvement of the computer technique and the maturation of the multi-body dynamics, the multi-DOF of the automobile model was presented and the simulation results were more accurate. In this paper, various evaluation index for handling and stability of vehicle were introduced, a 18 DOF vehicle model in the cross-wind, which based on the high-speed aerodynamics characters and non-linear tire model, was built, the performance of high-speed vehicle running in straight line in the crosswind have been simulated with some results and a few analyses of them have been given. Using the ADAMS, a vehicle dynamic model of multi-rigid bodies including suspension system, steering system and power system was built. The performance of high-speed vehicle which turning during the crosswind which including 4 kinds of unsteady wind has been simulated with some simulation results and a few analysis have been given. For the performance of closed-loop system can represent the vehicle characters very well, a driver-vehicle-road closed-loop model based on the preview-follower method with PID driver model and 2 DOF vehicle model has been created and some simulations have been done. The above simulation results were hi agreement with the reference.
