The analysis of a bus chassis frame by FEM is now becoming an essential technique to design bus structure . In addition , the chassis frame has anextreme linearity which causes the analysis to be very difficult, especially using linear material properties. A finite element analysis program by ANSYS has the element library for its element .The author developed a method to model this linear frame by using the elements available in ANSYS Rel. 5.5 for 2-dimensional axisymmetric analysis and those in Rel. 5.6 for 3-dimensionalanalysis. In this paper, the concept and the procedure of the modeling is introduced. The data input is possible using a template, without using any other ANSYS commands. The whole analysis execution is controlled by APDL. Finite element dynamic analysis have been carried out utilizing the large CAD/CAE/CAM software ANSYS for a certain bus chassis frame, with the analyses ,we have given scientific basis for the vehicle design and optimum.
