This paper stated materials use, structure actuality and develop direction of diesel engine valve used to internal combustion locomotive. Listed different work condition between intake valve and exhaust valve, and pointed out disadvantages that used same materials and structure to manufacture valves. Introduced and contrasted systematically chemical composition, mechanical & physical property etc. about two martensite steels. The new intake valves were designed and produced that technology is better, cost is lower and property is credibility. The intake valves were load on diesel engine and did running test. Based on the experimental results, newly no-heap-welding intake valve may save 20-60 yuan per stick and run safely about 45 ten thousand kilometers. Fill up a blank of the quenching intake valve on diesel engine valve used to internal combustion locomotive in our country. For advanced technical level for key parts on diesel engine, inaugurate an effective approach.
