The influence of Reynolds number on the characteristics of multistage axial compressors was examined in this paper when compressors operate at the lower Reynolds number than the critical value. The correlation between the stable boundary and the Reynolds number was obtained based on much test data from the open literatures, over the range of Reynolds number from 2000-150000. With the help of Wassell semi-empirical correction method, the performances and stable boundaries of a 5-stage low-pressure compressor and 3-stage high-pressure compressor were predicted using a computer code designed by the author. Good agreements between computational and experimental results indicate that the method is reliable when used in engineering.
