Semi-active Laser-guided Target Indication Simulator

Laser precisely guiding weapons are the emphasis of our armament. Accompanying with the development of laser guiding weapons and the need of conquering Taiwan, it is so important to simulate the operational effectiveness of laser guiding weapons and train the user. A simulating system of semi-active laser guiding designator is designed in this paper, it can be used to research laser guiding weapons' theory of operation, working process, guiding arithmetic and anti-jamming performance, as well as the hardware in the loop emulating of laser guiding.On the base of analyzing hardware-in-the-loop simulation of semiactive laser guidance, this article brings forward a hardware-in-the-loop simulation system of semiactive laser guidance, which is based upon guiding loop. Thridimensional dynamic scene and red semiconductor are used in this system, which can simulate the principle of laser guidance accurately and make operator is personally on the scene. At the same time, the system is also used on researching of laser guidance and laser anti-jamming technology.The simulator of laser designator is a important component of the hardware-in-the-loop simulation system of semiactive laser guidance. A semiconductor laser with wave of 650 nm is designed as light source of the designator, the coder of pulse interval modulating to this light source is made by SCM. The platform of this designator is a two-dimensional turret which is driven by stepper motor, and the control signal of azimuth and elevation to the turret comes from SCM. The main control computer combines the coder and turret controller with two UART RS-232 interface, and accept the information of target screen coordinate from three-dimensional dynamic scene generating computer through Ethernet network card. The main control software is composed of coder control software and turret controller software.The following are the main character of this simulator of designator: exact simulation, good vision effect, abundance and flexible setting to laser pulse interval modulating signals, accurate coding control time , ability to simulate the change of range on vision, high precision tracking and designating to target on plane with a well dynamic response, offering a synchronous signal to seeker, etc.The completion of this laser designator simulator is of some significance to emulation research on semi-active laser guiding, laser countermeasure, laser reconnaissance and warning.
