With the development of construction in cities and the exploitation of underground space, the abundance different underground buildings are constructing .However due to the lack of basic information, A perfect method for the seismic design of underground structure was presented still. The seismic design code for subway (currently being developed) in our country isn' t yet comprehensive. These make the research about the seismic design of underground structure more important and urgent. So it has been the important problem that must be resolved soon.The research of seismic design of tunnel is a new and frontier field in science. Combined with examples-the Huangcaoping NO. 1 tunnel in the 318 freeway from Haizishan Mountain to Zhubalong and the NO. 1 subway in guanghzou from cemetery of martyr to dongshankou, dynamic finite element analysis was performed and the anti-seismic capabilities varying with shape of section were researched in this paper. It was detailed as following:1. The type and characteristic of seismic damage to the shallow buried tunnel were analyzed, the theory of design seismic of underground structure and dynamic finite element were introduced as well.2. With the help of dynamic finite element, the Huangcaoping NO. 1 tunnel was analyzed with different Rayleigh' damping. The effects on the results correspond to different Rayleigh' damping were compared.3. The Huangcaoping NO. 1 tunnel and the NO. 1 subway in guanghzou from cemetery of martyr to dongshankou was analyzed with dynamic finite element in the U-shaped, Circle shape, rectangle shape separately and loaded from three kinds of direction such as horizon, vertical, uprightness with 45 degrees direction, the anti-seismic capabilities with different shape of sections were evaluated.4. Analysis with static lode, compare the anti-seismic capabilities of the U-shaped, Circle shape, rectangle shape in the lode from three kind of direction such as horizon, vertical, uprightness with 45 degrees direction.It was indicated that anti-seismic capabilities with circle sectionwas preferred to that with u-shape section which was preferred to rectangle section in shallow buried tunnel. So it was proposed that circle section was used as can as possible for shallow buried tunnel in the area with high earthquake intensity. The results of this paper may present guidance to anti-seismic design of the practical construction.
