As the development of measurement, the miniaturization of free Chlorine measurement instrument using in common live has been one of the most important trend of development. In this area, the measurement which used in lab and industrial can not fit the demand of miniaturization.In this paper, an original measurement coming from DPD measurement and colorimetric analysis has been put forward. After demonstration in theory and experimentation, a portable free Chlorine Measurement which applied this measurement has been designed.Firstly, the absorption spectra of free Chlorine in the visible region has been measured after free Chlorine in the solution had reacted with DPD (N, N-diethyl-l,4-phenylenediamine). The relation between the absorption spectra and peak wavelength has been discussed. By nonlinear data fitting, the relation between the concentration of free Chlorine and the transmissivity has been given. Then Portable Chlorine Meter is made on the basis of the function and optical inspection. The paper explicates the structure of measurement system, hardware system and software system. Multitudinous particular designs have been make to improve the performance of portable instrument. In numerical calculation, both curve fitting compaction and interpolation method are used to improve the exact of figure. Also the nonlinear of temperature of whole system has been discussed.
