The study of robust flight control is important to improve the airplane performance and the flight quality. In this thesis, the problem of designing thecontroller for airplanes is studied and H∞ control theory is applied to flight controlin the condition of disturbances, then flight control system performance is tested. At last, the technique of visual simulation is introduced to designing and testing flight control system. The main results of this thesis are as follows:1.In order to get the wholly optimization, the method of designing the robust controller for airplanes is studied this paper through the systems engineering theory. The design procedures include: system defining, plant modeling, controller designing, closed-loop system performance testing , flight testing and result feedback.2.Robust controller is designed for a certain airplane by using H∞ approachand the digital simulation is inplemented.3.The problem of flight control system performance test is studied, and the testing criteria are discussed. After a new controller was designed, the new flight system is examined through the stable margin and the military norm, then the controller is also examined with the fragility criteria. Therefore the performance of the new system is ensured.4.The technique of visual simulation is introduced to designing and testing flight control system to resolve the problem in simulations and performance tests. A program of visual simulation is programmed by the virtual reality modeling language VRML and MATLAB virtual reality toolbox, which can test the performance of system, and it is applied to test the performance of system for a certain aircraft.
