Hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN)-based liquid propellants have been pursued as liquid gun and rocket propellants for many years in America. In our country; it is possibly going be employed in near future. Compared to hydrazine (N2H4), HAN-based liquid propellants are environmentally benign and safety, which should reduce cost for handling and launching. Also, the relatively high densities of the propellants make it possible to reduce the size of the fuel tank and associated components, resulting in an improvement of the rocket performance. HAN is the main active toxic component of the new HAN-based liquid propellant. It is a moderately toxic and caustic substance to animal and can be administrated through dermal,, oral, or respiratory route. HAN causes severe damage to skins, eyes, and red blood cells of the hematologic system. Therefore, to find an effective antidote is a crucial problem to be solved.Porphyrin is a kind of important compound that has consanguineous relationship with life science. With the development of porphyrin investigation, scientists paid more attention to this field. Because scientists found porphyrin derivatives played an important role in life process. From the metaphase of 1960s, the porphyrin-based biomimic work had made a great progress. Research in improving the anti-oxidation property of metalloporphyrins and mimicking chemistry is a main research direction. Studies have shown that porphyrin derivatives are SOD and CAT mimics. These mimics hold great potential as pharmaceutical agents for the treatment of many diseases.In this paper, three porphyrin compounds as the antidotes of HAN and studied their properties was synthesized. The results are as follow:In the first part, 5,10,15,20-Tetra-(2-pyridyl) porphyrin (TpyP) has been prepared. Their synthetic conditions was investigated, reaction process was monitored through TLC. The crude products were purified by neutral alumina column Chromatography with dichloromethane containing pyridine as eluent. Its structure has beencharacterized by UV-vis spectra, IR, and lHNMR.In the second part, 5,10,15,20-Tetra-(2-pyridyl) zinc, manganese(III) porphyrin were synthesized. The synthetic conditions were investigated and reaction process was monitored by UV-vis spectra. We have done a lot of experimental work and find a better way to purify and separate the compounds. The structures of these compounds were characterized and confirmed by UV-vis spectra, IR, 'HNMR.
