A novel circuit of three-phase Emergency Power Supply (EPS) is introduced in this paper. In order to overcome the shortcoming of complex configuration of the traditional EPS circuit, the bidirectional topologies are applied to this EPS circuit. Therefore, this circuit has some merits of simple configuration, intelligent, low cost, etc.This paper puts emphasis on the two basic components of this EPS circuit: bidirectional DC/DC converter and bidirectional PWM converter. Through the analyses on operating principles, circuit configurations and control strategies of these two converters, it is showed that these two converters can be properly used in this EPS circuit.Based on the analyses of the principles of this EPS circuit, the main circuit design is proposed in detail. We also introduces the design of the auxiliary circuits, such as the control circuit, the auxiliary power circuit, the protection circuit, the sampling circuit, and so on. What's more, in allusion to the characteristics of this EPS circuit, we also introduces the design methods of the thermal design, the 3D design and the DC bus design.Finally, based on the principle analysis and the system design, we build a simulate circuit and a experimental proto type. The results of the simulation and experiment shows that this EPS circuit is not only feasible but also advanced.
