Continuous increasing of electric demand and quick development of power system infrastructure construction makes the power grid gradually change from the large area interconnected power systems to the national interconnected AC/DC power systems. Power system interaction has become a threat to system stability because of the increasing probability of cross coupling among controller channels attribute to system interconnections. High Voltage DC (HVDC) transmission system and Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) are the most important components of modern systems, their controllers interaction becomes the typical problem. With the help of strategies dealing with AC/AC and DC/DC interactions, the dissertation tried to study the interactions between HVDC and FACTS controllers in multi-machine interconnected systems, which mainly includes the following aspects:1. Generally introduce the benefits of different kinds of HVDC and FACTS instrument, make the suggest of how to model HVDC and FACTS controllers for interaction analysis properly.2. Define AC/DC interconnected power system interactions, systematize the achievements of AC/AC and DC/DC interaction research and study the main problems of AC/DC interactions.3. Introduce the principle, property and applications of Relative Gain Array (RGA) for power system research.4. Analyze the interactions between HVDC inverter and Static Var Compensator (SVC) in a 4-machine 17-bus power system with the RGA method, and validate the proposed approach with the non-linear simulation method.
