The cooling system is an important part of engine, it has strong influences on the power, economy and dependability of engine. With increasing in speed and power of engine, the demand to cooling system is higher, so the design and research on the cooling system of engine is also becoming more and more advanced. Under the precondition that the cooling system has enough cooling efficiency and intension, it is the necessary trend that the cooling efficiency is higher and the energy consumption is lower.Cooling system of engine is investigated in this article. Firstly, the development of optimization design and the method of punishing function for constraint problems and variational scale for unconstraint problems have been introduced. Taking the driving power and fluid strength efficiency of cooling fan as the optimize goal, and using the mix punishing function method and making program in Fortran language, this article has the optimize calculated the structural parameter of cooling fan and analyzed the optimize result. Meanwhile, the calculation method for the volume efficiency of cooling fan has been preliminary discussed, and its easier calculation method has been revised. Compared with the original design plan of cooling fan, driving power of the fan after optimizing has dropped form 3. 451kW to 3. 093kW, dropped by 10. 37%, the total efficiency of it has risen form 28.6% to 31.9%, and the re-set target has been reached.The radiator is the core part of cooling system, its structure is an important influent factor of heat transfer ability, and the quality of the radiator has very great influence on the whole cooling system. This article has analyzed the available ways to improve the radiator efficiency in theory, and has the contrast research on the influence between structure of the tube and corrugated fin radiator and theradiation' s performance through experiment. The result indicate that reduce the belt wave length and adopt double waves belt can improve the heat dissipation capacity. The arrangement of cooling water pipe is strong influences on heat transfer ability, in a situation that other structure parameter is the same, the quantity of cooling water pipe will have great influence on the performance of the radiator, but the air resistance increases by vast scale also. When cooling water pipe is more than 3 platoon, the heat transfer capacity increase not as so vast as the increase of the whole area of heat transfer of radiator, the result of heat transfer is general, but the increases of the air resistance is not obvious.The design and matching of cooling system affects the performance of engine directly. In this article, the radiator and the cooling fan has been matched for cooling system of one kind of remodeling vehicles, and the designing calculation has been done and the computation has been checked up, and the structure of the cooling system has been optimizing designed.
