With the prompt development of aviation, space, electron and mechanism, the problems of vibration in various kinds of flexible structures are increasingly becoming a pop topic. Utilizing smart materials as the sensors and actuators in the controlling research becomes one of the most popular areas recently. When using space flexible structures, because of their big flexibility, small interior resistance and there is hardly any exterior resistance, it is very hard to obtain highly orientation precision and stability by traditional vibration control methods. This problem can be solved by the research and development of the flexible intelligent structures. This kind of structures get the sensor, actuator and control incorporated in a system and they can diagnose and adjust by themselves, this gives a completely new and effect way to solve the former problems.The mainly contents of this thesis are based on the following aspects:(1) The concepts and widely applications of smart materials and smart structures are introduced firstly;(2)Base on the finite elements Analysis and landscape orientation displacement equation, a mathematic model of a cantilever beam with piezoelectric sensor and actuator is set up;(3)Making use of the finite elements Analysis software - ANSYS, the vibration situation of a piezoelectric cantilever beam is analyzed, the first three mode analyses results are presented;(4)Give a method of optimizing, discuss the location and the thickness of the piezoelectric patch, give the relationships among the different thicknesses of glue layer, main material and piezoelectric layer and how the relationships influence the effectual moment;(5) Base on three different methods, control effects of the piezoelectric cantilever beam are given. The results of the three methods are compared.
