The bending of tube which is thin-wall and large diameter is difficult in domestic aviation corporation. The manufacture of civil plane was restricted by that. In this paper, a digital system of tube bending was brought up, realizing transfer of the digital information about the tube design and manufacturing instead of analog information. The forming quality and manufacture efficiency of tube part will be improved by the digital system of tube bending, which lay the foundation for solving the bending of thin-wall and large diameter tube.In this paper, the overall pattern and the system structure of digital system for tube bending are researched in much detail. And system structure, function modules, running flow, data flow are planed and designed. Then the project implement and its attentions are presented. Through analyzing the process of tube bending, a knowledge database of numerical control (NC) tube bending was amply designed, containing its function, structure, the list of craft planning and the logical relationship of all kinds of different knowledge lists. Researches three-dimension modeling of tube and its following interface. check and measure technology, tube expansion and increment tube bending programming technology is researched in this paper.Based on VC++6.0 and CATIA, Both the system of rapid design to digital tube bending and system of model pretreatment of digital tube bending are developed to implement the rapid design of tube and rapid extracting of parameter feature. NC tube bending knowledge database was developed based on VC++6.0 and ORCAL. According to the principle of case-based reasoning (CBR), the system of roughcast development and the system for creating process parameters were developed by using experience formulas and knowledge.Through the above-mentioned study and development, a main route of the digital system of tube bending is passed through, showing that the digital system of tube bending is feasible. And whole digital design and manufacturing of tube was discovered through that. The research of this paper is a valuable reference to the whole digital manufacturing of other aircraft sheet metal.
