With the rapid development of modern semiconductor, radar and Network technology, military avionics system has entered to a new epoch. The new avionics contain high data-rate sensors, parallel processors and shared memory with high levels of integration. MIL-STD-1553B serve as standard of data communications in many military environments can not satisfy the needs of modern system, otherwise to stipulate for a new standard cause high cost, long period and singled-used. The solution is to find a Commercial off the Shelf technology and do necessary modification to adapt to avionics environment. After compare multitudinous high speed network technology that widely use in Commercial, this thesis chooses the fibre channel which is the forceful candidate of the next-generation avionics communication network standard as the research target. Firstly analyzes the requirements of next-generation avionics and the advantage of the fibre channel. Thoroughly study FC-FS, FC-PH, FC-AL and FC-AE, introduce the protocol model topology structure and service class of the fibre channel. Emphasis on the process of fibre channel arbitrated loop network. Base on all above work and combining with the structure of next-generation avionics a computer simulation model was developed. The OPNET Modeler tool from OPNET, Inc was used to model the components of an advanced avionics system. Also the thesis evaluates the model on suppose data stream to educe the throughput, latency and EtoE credit. The results of the simulation demonstrated that fibre channel meets all the performance requirements of an avionics interconnect.
