Electrochemical supercapacitor is a new energy storage component between batteries and electrostatic capacitors, which has higher power density than that of batteries and higher energy density than that of electrostatic capacitor. When working with batteries, they can meet the high power out-put need of electric vehicles when starting-up or accelerating. They can also be used as electric components and power sources for small electrical equipment and direct current switches. Now supercapacitors have become a hotspot in research.In this dissertation, a supercapacitor was prepared with 1300m2/g active carbon as electrode material. Specific capacitance of 76.7F/g at 10mA current in a single sell was achieved at 6mol/L KOH. Good cycle performance also was obtained.A hybrid supercapacitor was fabricated using a Ni(OH)2 positive electrode and an active carbon negative electrode, Ni(OH)2 prepared by chemical precipitation method. The electrochemical properties of electrode and the capacitive behavior of the resulting supercapacitor were studied by cyclic voltammetry and constant current charge-discharge tests. The results show that the hybrid supercapacitor has good charge-discharge and cycling performances. The maximum operational voltage of the capacitor can be improved effectively. The Maximum specific capacitance of 120.7F/g was obtained in 6mol/L KOH electrolyte.We prepared the Co-doped Ni(OH)2 by chemical precipitation method to fabricate the supercapacitor made of active carbon and the Co-doped Ni(OH)2. Then, we test the specific capacitance and the electrochemical properties of the new supercapacitor. The result was improved in charge-discharge and cycling performances.
