West - Han Highway Expansion Soil Engineering Properties Of Experimental Research

Expansive soil is a highly plastic clay, which can cause grave damage to constructions. It is always long-term and latent hazard to express way that the clay make express way deformation and destruction, in order to settle the matter, the paper study about Xi' an~Han zhong express way which via K81+900～k91+500 in Nanzheng county and K4+000 ～K5+185 in Yangxian , expansive soil is typical, on the base of unsaturated soil mechanics theory. Laboratory experiments play a major part on study. First, the geology has been analyzed, then, characteristics such as swelling-shrinkage, intensity, mechanical, suction are obtained combining with observation in site. The engineering properties of express way improved expansive soil by lime are studied. In the end, the engineering properties of expansive soil by Xi' an-Hanzhong express way are summarized.
