It is expected that increasing amounts of new generation technologies will be connected to electrical power systems in the near future. The most popular type of dispersed generators include co-generation or combined heat and power (CHP), Combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT), diesels, mini-hydro, wind turbines, photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cells. Dispersed generation possesses lots of advantages. The joint operation of dispersed generators with power grid brings tremendous variation in control and operation for modern power system. It is important and significant both in theory and practice to study dispersed generators. In this paper the main technical impacts of embedded generation on the dispersed generation on the power system are reviewed. These impacts include network programming , system losses, voltage control, relay protection, etc.This paper first analyses the impacts of DR to distribution network planning, the main problems need to be solved in distribution network planning are summarized from DR' s siting and sizing planning and distribution expansion planning. This paper presents analytical approaches for optimal placement of DR in radial and networked distributed network, the simulation models are established by PSASP and the power flow changes, network waste and the system voltage level are analysed.This paper analyses the impacts of DR to the relay protection of the distribution network, the relay protection and automatic devices' setting scheme is founded, this scheme' s basal idea is to connect the pilot protection with net communicate principle to build the compositive control system, the system will be used at the 110kV terminal substation with DR connected.This paper is included in the science and technology item of ShanDong Electric Power Group Corporation which named "The Analysis And Research Of Correlative Technical And Policy Questions When DR Connected To The Electrical Network" .
