High-speed Rotating Mirror Camera Performance Synchronous Speed Sensor

The synchronous sensor and velocity sensor for High Speed Rotating- Mirror Streak Camera are described. Contents are mainly focused on hardware design and fabricating, software compiling, system testing and experiment.Started from the principle and performances of High Speed Rotating -Mirror Streak Camera, some essential issues,such as the reason of the scanning speed vibration, the disadvantages of the former velocity sensor, are discussed. And then, a brand new speed-measuring method is proposed. Meanwhile, a synchronous signal is generated to be the start signal of the high speed snapshot. In this case, the effective length of the film is increased enormously, which means that the resolution of the camera may be improved at the same rotating speed. Opto-electronic sensor and A/D converter are adopted, and so, the high accuracy time and space information can be obtained in the simplest and most understandable way.The laser unit, because of its monochromaticity and small divergency, is used as sensor's light source. Devices and chips provided with high-speed responsing and processing capabilities are employed. As a result, the achieved uncertainty of time measuring is±125 ps, demonstrating an accuracy improvement in magnitude of an order. The achieved precision of speed measuring is 0.1% of the scanning speed.In hardware design, the intactness of the camera's original structure has been maintained to the very extent, the facility of assembling and disassembling devices have been achieved. The remote control has been realized by the separation of active devices from passive devices. In software design, VC++, Keil C51 and Matlab are employed, bringing an easy way to communicate with the system.Experimental results show that each part of the system is functional and stable, the whole system can work properly. The design and manufacture have met the requirements of high sensitivity high speed camera.
