To solve the problem of voltage stability which exits in wind farms, this dissertation studied the total capacity and grouping capacity of condenser bank and it's control rules .A method which took the influence of the change of wind speed and load into account to compute the total capacity is proposed, applied Genetic Algorithm (GA) to determine the grouping capacity and control rules of capacitors that locate on the connected point.While computing the total capacity of condenser bank, a method to deal with the wind farms node is proposed, which according the active power and parameter of induction machine to resolve reactive power. This method considered the influence of the change of wind speed and load on active power output and reactive power output of wind farms, computed various operating mode to find the total capacity of condenser bank. While computing the grouping capacity of condenser bank, the object function was like that: if the wind speed equal to the maximum probability speed, making the voltage of connected point approach reference voltage under every load level; else, making the voltage of connected point to be acceptable under more load level, what's more, the action times of condenser is to be minimum. In GA algorithm, the selection strategy was based on collation; the terminate rule of iteration was the maximum number of acceptable voltage combined with the maximum iteration times.The calculation result that using this computing method to determine the grouping and control rules of capacitors for an actual wind power plant indicated the processing of the wind farm node reflected its character accurately, the processing of the wind farm node reflected its character accurately, the computing method for total capacity was simple and the computing result was accurate. The method thatapplying GA algorithm can realize the global optimization, the terminate rule of iteration reduced the calculation work. Using the computing result, the voltage on the parallel point can be restricted within regular range, making the action times of condenser to be minimum, ensuring the normal operation of wind farms.
