TI worm gearing, namely toroidal involute worm gearing, consists of involute helical gear and hourglass worm enveloped by the gear. A study on TI worm gearing is significant in theory and valuable in practice for developing a kind of worm reducer with high efficiency and heavy load capacity. This dissertation main investigates how to build the TI worm model in ANSYS, how to analyze the contact character between TI worm and helical gear. The last several chapters mainly studied the influence of assembling errors on the state of tooth contact of TI worm drive and how to eliminate the errors. The content of this research is as follows:Direct modeling for tooth surface of TI worm in ANSYS is difficult for the equations of contact lines being a kind of transcendental function. The complementary of current computer software as well as the powerful function of working platform and graph Boolean operation is fully considered for finding a effective finite-element modeling approach. Simultaneously, the structural characteristics of TI worm is also in help. A convenient and quick method of finite-element modeling of TI worm base on ANSYS software is developed considering all above factors mentioned. This approach can help avoid too much manual input or data processing, and provide a advantageous method for effective parameterized ANSYS modeling. This method can also be used for the similar modeling of complex-structure cambers. How to analyze the contact character of the curved faces in space is very difficult, it relates to friction, initial state and so on. This dissertation mainly discussed how to mesh, how to select the parameters and also how to load. The influence of assembling errors on the state of tooth contact of TI worm drive, which consists of involute helical gear and its enveloping hourglass worm, is analyzed by finite element method. The influence of six kinds of displacement and angle errors existing in the processes of assembling worm-gear set on tooth contact position is studied, and the influence of those errors in different direction on contact stress distribution and gear-tooth deformation are compared. At the same time, the displacement and angle errors having great influence on tooth contact position and gear-tooth deformation are obtained. Research results will be momentous significance for the proper selection and control of assembling errors of TI worm pair, as well as the selection of gear-tooth modification parameters.
