A primary objective of aircraft design is optimizing the distributing of the flow, drag reduction, increasing lift and the lift-drag ratio. When the aircraft cruise in supersonic and sonic, the friction preponderate over one half of the total drag, one percent reduction of the drag will enhance about ten percent of the efficient load or aviation distance. In general, advanced airfoils which are used in popularity enhance the flight performance of aircraft enormously and bring great benefit for people. But, the traditional methods get more and more limited as the demand for design increases. At present, people are considering a new way that use plasma to achieve drag reduction. In this thesis, Active flow control with plasma is investigated. A one atmosphere uniform, controllable, glow-charge surface plasma has been generated successfully. And flow velocity is induced in still air. Development of the plasma generator is key technology of the research, and is a kernel of this paper as well. In this paper, I will introduce you the method that how to build a glow discharge plasma device in a pressure and use the glow-discharge surface plasma produced by the device to open out the inflection which plasma acts on the flow and electromagnetic.The main jobs of this paper can be generalized as follow:1 , The efficient, economic, controllable glow-discharge plasma device has been developed. The one atmosphere uniform, controllable, glow-charge surface plasma has been generated successfully.2, The calculation of electrostatic distribution has been carry out for the plasma actuator, which provide numerical value simulation for the design of actuator. Panel plasma actuator and cylinder plasma actuator have been test to produce panel glow plasma and cylinder glow plasma.3, In this paper, the glow-discharge plasma device has been placed in flow for experiment, and analyze the results of experiment. The flow was induced by plasma, which confirms that active flow control can be come true by applying glow plasma. It is noticeable that the research just begins about employing plasma to control flow and there is a great deal of work to do in order to utilize the technology in projects.
