As a technical means, ferrography analysis is used widely in wear fault diagnosis of machine equipments and condition monitoring of wear. The recognition of wear particle is regarded as a key point in ferrography analysis technology, identifying or not,the direct relation .to the correctness of the condition monitoring for the equipments. To internal combustion engine, its work surroundings is very bad, and its work condition is complicated and changeful, the wear condition of internal combustion engine decide to whether it can be used safely and effectively. So which have important significances for the internal combustion engine study of wear particle characteristic.The thesis mainly analyses the wear condition and wear particle characteristic of the internal combustion engine according to the ferrography, it is a wear diagnosis technology based on the analysis of wear particle,the ferrography is one of the most effective method for wear condition monitoring and wear fault diagnosis of machine equipments. Analysis of wear particle supplies the more accurate information for variety of mechanical wearing state. Moreover it can die out the accident at germination state, realize the defendable maintenance of mechanism equipment.In the paper, wear particle of internal combustion engine is actual research object, and the discussion of some fundamental theory and research ways about the friction, wear and lubrication. And aim at the friction and wear characteristic of the internal combustion engine, collecting the internal combustion engine have the representative oil samples, proceeds the oil samples the analysis by the ferrography technique. By the recognition and analysis of oil samples ferrogram in the internal combustion engine,find out the different wear stages the typical characteristic of the wear particle. And we conclude the typical characteristic of the wear particle in different wear condition and typical work condition by the experiment. the thesis analyses the wear particle formed and the characteristics of wear particle,and proposes that the method of ferrography should be used in the research on the wear particle, in conclusion, the characteristic of wear particle and the conditions of wear have close relation to the wear particle formed. On the base of this we can analyses the wear condition of the internal combustion engine which is produced by the Yunnan company of the internal combustion engine by the result of experiment. So we can put up the wear condition monitoring and wear fault diagnosis based on the ferrography, this research provides some referenced value for the actual application.
