The dikes qua a sort of practical and extended flood controlling measure have consequence in national flood controlling engineering system. Gripping the status of dikes in time, detecting and eliminating the hidden faults in dikes and advancing the ability of resisting the flood of the dikes are the emphases in every flood controlling engineering in our country. There are three methods to detect the hidden troubles in dikes-geological drilling, manpower detecting and Geo-physical exploration. The geological drilling and manpower detecting both can't satisfy the request of fast, nicety and scatheless. Geo-physical exploration is a sort of indirect method. It estimates the depth, the scale and the shape of the hidden faults in dikes via the physical character difference of the detecting object. The main methods which can be used in detecting the hidden faults in dikes are Ground Penetrating Radar, Resistivity imaging and Shallow seismic reflection etc. But adopting one of these methods can lead different explanations in estimating the hidden faults in dikes. And it is difficult to classify the quality of the dikes well and truly.This thesis expounds the fundamental, the fieldwork measures and the data explanation of the GPR, Resistivity imaging and shallow seismic reflection at first. Further, it describes the migration transformation to GPR echo signals, the theory of imaging inversion in Resistivity imaging and the theory of explanation of the seismic data in detail. Finally, we combine these prospecting of comprehensive matters with enhancing the reliability and practice of the geo-physical exploration results to detect the hidden troubles in dikes in Dayuandu flood controlling engineering, Hengyang, Huan province. Choosing Longyingang as an example, we determined the site of the leak of water and obtained satisfying application effect. And also, we put forward the thinking for the survey development of hidden faults in dikes.
