After Its Inception, Fuzhou Commercial District And Building Research

Fuzhou has been an important coastal city of trade in china from of old. The government opened the five ports including Fuzhou in Qing Dynasty , which made Fuzhou become one of the cities that were effected by western culture more earlier. Effected by Chinese traditional culture and western culture all together , Fuzhou appeared a great deal of commercial districts and commercial buildings which were very characteristic and worthy to be studied. On the basis of field study and document study , the paper tries to show the characteristic and worthiness of the commercial districts and commercial buildings , and provides fundamental data and reference for the preservation and using of them .Firstly , the paper makes a brief account of the geography and the history of organizational system and the commerce of Fuzhou , then introduces the development of business and change of city structure after Fuzhou was opened as a port. Secondly, the paper makes a form about the distributing of the commercial districts in Fuzhou being a port , analyzes the characteristic of them ,then studies the characteristic example from them on their history, structure of roads and the style of buildings in the districts. Thirdly, the paper makes sorts of the commercial buildings in the commercial districts and they are divided into several categories, such as foreign business buildings , financial buildings ,custom buildings, assembly hall buildings, Chinese traditional buildings. Then the paper analyzes the characteristic of them on the style, structure and construct , craftwork, culture, and so on. In the end, the paper brings forward some advice on preservation and using the traditional districts and buildings .
