A thin layer of the low temperature plasma due to glow discharge in air was produced on the planar surface of designed electrode plates which is used on the surface of aerocraft. The relationship between the quantity of the plasma and the radiation can be utilized. The optical characteristics of the produced plasma were measured in experiment with a grating spectrograph system. The spectrum can be achieved at the same time. The analysis results from the data processed indicate that the intensity of the optical radiation of the glow discharge plasma grow linearly up with the increasing power applied to the electrode plate. The optical radiation is the maximum when the distance of the electrode interstice is Omm. The distribution of the plasma on both sides of the 0mm linearly declines and is nearly symmetrical. The study shows that it is feasible to describe the behavior of the glow discharge plasma and to control it quantitatively by the obtained relationship between its radiation characteristic, applied power and the distance of the electrode interstice. The main jobs of this paper can be generalized as follow:1. The radiant detection of the glow discharge plasma: In the experiment, the spectrum can be achieved with the WDL30 monochromator and Hamamatsu CR135 photomultiplier tubes.2. The analysis of the glow discharge plasma characteristics: The optical radiation is the characteristics of the produced plasma. The analysis of the APGD about the optical radiation will be made in the measuring investigation. The relationship between the intensity of the optical radiation of the glow discharge plasma and parameters can be achieved though changing electrical parameters and the discharge electrode's scantling of structure.3. The analysis of the optical measuring method: The optical signals such as the wavelength, light intensity and other basic physicals will be investigated with photoelectric detector. The variance in optical radiant intensity will be discussed in different electrode interstices and frequency relatively.4. The experimental investigations of the radiant characteristics on the aerofoil surface: The experiment is basic on optical radiation of the glow discharge plasma. The research will directly be done on the radiant characteristics on the surface of the analogue aerofoil.
