Brushless DC Motor (BLDCM), which requires rotor position signals for commutation, has advantages of control simplicity, good mechanical properties and high efficiency. It has broad development prospects. However, it's instable at low-speed operation.To improve the low-speed characters, the author refers to a large number of related materials, consults the hybrid stepping motor's structure character and drive method. A new control strategy is proposed, which combines the advantages of both stepping motor and BLDCM. In this strategy, rotor position close-loop control, which's usually used in BLDCM, is applied on hybrid stepping motor. It has the advantages of good mechanical properties and high efficiency that BLDCM has. Moreover, it has good low-speed operation. Simulation model is established by MATLAB/Simulink and analysis is made based on the model. Sensorless control circuit is designed for this strategy. The results of the circuit experiment validate the strategy.
