Container transportation, as one of the advanced ways of transportation, has become the main stream of international and inland trade and transportation. With the container transportation desperately going forward, the port is guaranteed with container inspecting and positioning system. At current, semi-automatization helps loading and unloading containers. Although the container itself can be done by crane automatically, its relative position towards the crane, the truck and the ship is mainly estimated by worker's experience. Yet manual positioning can only offer the primary qualitative estimation of container, but not the quantitative result. Meanwhile, manual positioning dramatically decreases the automatization with low efficiency, even danger. Therefore, the non-touch interspace positioning would amazingly increase the efficiency of loading and unloading containers, and finally reach the complete automatization.An important inspection method is adopted in this article-visual inspection, which enables the interspace automatic positioning with high speed during the process and takes the advantage of high speed, big range, accuracy, no touch and large information. It is applied to measure object 2D and 3D position with no touch. In general, it has not been developed and used in much more field. Till now, we have not known on the success of measuring dynamic objects with distance of more than 10m and with dimension of 2-15m, and the measurement on this kind of big object is almost of static state at this moment. The visual inspection research is much higher than it is in China, and with more application, whereas, the overseas products are more expensive. What the important is no report shows the application in loading and unloading fields, thus this research is the one on new technology with great challenge.Making model of container positioning system in the lab, analyzing the images of actual on-port truck, and calculating and analyzing the specific figures proves the model to be efficient and useable. It shows the speed and accurate inspection, and the reasonable and expanding figures. Such method timely deals with and inspects the images and can be reasonably applied for improving the efficiency in container port.
