With the popularity of electronic and information technology applications in the traditional optical and mechanical-based astronomical telescope field, more and more embedded systems are applied. Traditionally, in order to find the object star, the observer have to operate the astronomical telescope manually, which is complicated and imprecise, especially difficult for entry-level amateur astronomers. According to the theoretical knowledge of astronomy combined with the reality of equatorial mount, the thesis introduce an algorithm of star-searching with high-precision and the development of auto star-searching system based on 8-bit MCU.This paper outlines the background and development of the status quo of the auto-star system at home and abroad firstly with the present reality, and specific content of research is explicated after by putting forward the practical significance of equatorial mount with auto-star function. Celestial coordinates and other basic astronomical knowledge are introduced in the chapter II with the calculation flow of a star apparent position. The subsequent chapter described the method of amendment for the algorithm on the basis of previous chapter, including the precession, nutation, atmospheric refraction, and other amendments to improve the accuracy to the level of arc seconds. Chapter IV presents the hardware and software design of the general framework. While Chapter V presents details of specific hardware circuit design. Chapter VI of the thesis described in detail the system operation, driver-design, RTX 51 Embedded OS and the function-module design. The final chapter gives a summary and put forward the further development in future.
