With the development of the electric power system, a nationwide electric power network is emerging. This network will facilitate the application of the HVDC technology. And with the progress of power and electronic technologies and the price drop of DC power transmission equipments, the HVDC will not only have a more apparent advantage, but also be more competitive.After Zhoushan HVDC industrial test works, Shengsi HVDC project is China's second one entirely based on domestic technology and equipments It's also the first one in China to use bipolar-way cable to reallise HVDC island to island.This paper discusses the main design principles of the Shengsi HVDC project. Right DC System Connection program of the proposed project design, and an equipment and the technical requirements for secondary equipment elaborate. For various load conditions and set up five operation modes, related to equipment and the technical requirements to automatically switch to enhance the reliability of the system. Because of a very weak power grid terminal, so it's equipped with phase adjustment machine and reasonable-filter system, and further resolve of the international problems on the weak as the terminal HVDC system stability operations, and ultimately achieve a passive operation.This paper also elaborated on the steady-state system, the validation of technical parameters DC system control and protection of the technical requirements. The largest engineering and power loss was calculated, while the engineering used in new technologies and processes described.
