Podded populsor is a new kind of propulsion equipment in the past ten years. It has many advantages in design, performance, manufacture and maintenance, compared with custom propulsion methods. Nowadays, podded populsors have been widely used abroad, and it has great advantages and application of background, which has promoted the related research. Since the research involves the screw propeller, pod performance and the reciprocity between populsor and hull, the design of podded populsor, performance test, and the forecast ways of real boats and research of related theory needs to be developed farther.So the task of this paper is to simulate and analysis the hydrodynamic performance of podded populsor. This paper has three parts, the parameter model of pod, the analysis of CFD and the analysis of the result. First, a parameter model of pod is made based on the three-dimensional design of CAD. Then the hydrodynamic performance is analyzed with the help of SC/Tetra, a kind of CFD software, in the appropriate condition of inflow models, boundary qualification, coupling ways of speed and pressure. Finally according to the result, we can get the pressure distribution of the podded populsor and the characteristic curves of the propeller and the podded propulsor.
