Many scholars engaging in research on rock mechanics have investigated the performances of rocks experiencing dynamic load, obtained many results, and made great progress on both rock mechanics theories and applications. However, those research results are mainly about cases that rock are only experienced dynamic load under the normal temperature, it is relative insufficiency that the study of the deformation and failure behavior of rock after high temperature. In addition, heated fracture rock mass is one of the common and complex rock masses encountered in nuclear waste bury, geothermic exploitation and underground development in big city. The strength and deformation characteristics of the fracture rock mass are critical to the design, construction and operation of the relevant projects. According to the problem above, the author of this paper carried out the research deeply and systematically on the following failure/fragmentation characteristics of rock after high temperature experiencing dynamic load on the basis of the experiment and theoretic analysis and other people's research results on dynamic load with the aid of National Nature Science Foundation of China.First of all, by using of the split-hopkinson pressure bar, the test of siltstone failure/fragmentation under dynamic loading is carried out to investigate the deformation and failure behavior of siltstone after high temperature and the effect of temperature on rock dynamic constitutive relation, peak stress and absorbing energy. The influence of temperature on rock breakage was summarized by contrasting the feature of rock breakage under different temperature. The data of rock fragmentation and fractal characteristics after temperature are obtained based on fractal theory. Analysis of dynamic cracking mechanism based on damage mechanics which is providing basis of theoretical and experimental for rock engineering after temperature. In short, the research of this dissertation, which is based on the frontal of the subject, applying the newest means to investigate the characteristics of rock failure and fragmentation after temperature, and the study with innovation and novelty is the first in china, under the condition of dynamic loaded rock system, is useful for both theory andpractice, and in special for the developing of research on characteristicsof rock experiencing dynamic loading.
