Nowadays, while integrated circuit technology used in avionics equipment is becoming high powered and high density, their volumes is turning smaller and smaller continuously. Inevitably this transformation cased the avionics'superheat. The measurement and evaluation of the thermal performance of avionics have played a significant role in security, reliability and stability of the products.This paper puts emphasis on the thermal contact resistance, in which we discuss the original elements of the thermal contact resistance, and analyzed the typical forms in avionics. Based on the thermal conduct theory, we designed and produced a experiment testing system for thermal contact resistance, with which we got the thermal values of standard module, series module and chip packages.Thermal contact resistance is the key value used for thermal design of avionics, whose measure quality decides the precision of the thermal simulation. In this paper, we contrasted the test value of different system modules with the analytical results from Flotherm. The conclusion proved the feasibility and reliability of this experiment system used for thermal contact resistance test.A valid and reliable series of thermal test and analytical tools was originated by the experiment and simulation analysis of avionics thermal contact resistance. In order to store and manage the experiment and simulation data, a thermal characteristic database was developed. All these works made up an integrated system used to develop avionics thermal design, which made the whole process progress in terms of systematism and computer aided. The practical application of this system by engineers of the research institute has testified that it not only can enhance quality of products, save more cost and shorten the design period, but also made a solid base for the incoming similar foundation of testing system with its well expansibility and typicality.
