Research Of Urban Heritage Conservation System In G(?)rlitz, Germany

Due to historical reasons, European cultural heritage conservation keeps ahead in the world. G(o|¨)rlitz is a cultural historic city which lies in the eastern of Germany. The urban heritage in G(o|¨)rlitz also is regard as the most integral one in Germany which survived from the the World WarⅡ. Facing problems of urban decay, serious shortage of conservation funding support, experience lack of for community participation and high rise of the social cost, comprehensive urban heritage conservation system was found and a series of measures were implemented in G(o|¨)rlitz. Today, urban heritages get well protection in G(o|¨)rlitz, the values of them are highly excavated, Community fully participate in the process of conserving their heritage. Finally, conservation works are highly integrated into urban life, and urban heritage bring huge energy for city dynamic promotion and even become the power for promoting the city regeneration. Its means urban heritage conservation in G(o|¨)rlitz has been setting up a virtuous cycle mechanism and is stepping into the phase of sustainable development.During the 1 year studying in Germany, author has surveyed in G(o|¨)rlitz and communicated with local authority and house owners several times. By collecting and sorting out abundant of materials, author concludes the city history of G(o|¨)rlitz, value of heritage, and conservation conception methods, framework, measures, implementation model etc. in the paper. Furthermore, based on forward achievements, author makes further researches in the features of protection system of G(o|¨)rlitz and make following conclusion: today, integrity conservation and community participation are embodiments of maturity for the urban conservation system, and based on which, the authenticity and integrity of urban heritage can be protected and the value of them can be realized in the range of the whole society, furthermore, the urban conservation can be a dynamic action and become an organic process with city sustainable development.The last but not the least, the author expects that by learning from the excellent experience of foreign country, urban heritage conservation in China can get further development and the urban heritage can be protected more efficient.
