Cam mechanism with oscillating roller follower is widely used in all kinds of automatic machine. Its dynamic performance greatly affects the quality and accuracy of the entire equipment. In this paper, the cam mechanism which is the important part of die-cutting mechanism in die-cutting machine is studied. The kinematics and dynamics performances of the mechanism are analyzed.The profile data of the cam are calculated on the basis of dimension data of gripper opening cam mechanism of die-cutting machine and sinusoidal acceleration which is a basic movement law of followers. Then the data are imported to ADAMS to build up the model of the cam and the cam mechanism. The cam mechanism is simulated in the cases of different stiffness of the spring which is used to prevent the follower from separating from the cam profile, and different movement laws are got. According to the curves of displacement and velocity of the follower center, we can judge whether the follower has separated from the cam profile or not. And the curve of contact force is calculated, too.The film thickness is computed according to the Dowson-Higgson EHL line contact formula. And the oil stiffness is computed later. Then the equivalent contact stiffness of the contact pair is got. The stiffness data are imported to ADAMS to take the place of a constant stiffness. And a function is used to replace the data approximately. Then new data and curves of movement law and force can got by simulation. The results are compared with each other. In the end, the effect of lubrication in the cam mechanism can be got.The distribution of stress and deformation or displacement are obtained by mechanics analys using finite element method. And the function of pressure angle is discussed, too. By analyzing the modal of the cam, it's natural frequency and related distortion distribution are calculated. It can serve for the later work of dynamic analysis. In the thermal analysis, temperature distribution and thermal stress distribution are obtained under the given working conditions.
