This thesis takes a self-propelled howitzer as the object to study and utilize the nonlinear finite element theory of the structural dynamics to analyze the dynamic strength of the howitzer in firing state. On the base of dynamic analysis, utilize the structural optimization design theory and the quality engineering theory to study optimal design of the carrier structure. Owing to the conventional structural optimization design does not take into account the influence of uncertain factors on the design result, so we can not ensure the reliability and robustness of the design results. This thesis utilize the 6σtheory and robust optimum design technique, use the technique of the product quality engineering, combine with NCGA algorithm and monte-carlo simulation technique to realize 6σquality of design goal.The main works in this thesis are as follows.1) The nonlinear finite element dynamic model of self-propelled howitzer is built. Complicated nonlinear connections among artillery components, contact relation and suspension characteristics of chassis are considered. Calculate the processes and structural dynamics response of the howitzer, during fire, at the direction /elevation angles of 0/0 and 0/65.2) Commercial software of PRO/E, HYPERMESH and ABAQUS are integrated into ISIGHT optimization software's platform. Strong points of such software are used to form a system which can complete modeling, mesh partition and finite element analysis. The integrated and automatic process of from design to optimization and to redesign isfinished.3) This thesis constructed the 6σrobustness optimization designing method based on product quality by combining with the NCGA algorithm and Monte Carlo simulation technique.
