Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) is one of typical mechatronics products and a new type high performance supporting component. It is being extensivly demanded for application, because of its many merits. However, due to technical complexity, difficulty and other reasons, the current domestic study of magnetic bearings is mostly being in the laboratory stage.Based on the applicative needs of a project, in a less costs ,simple structure, and meeting the control performance, the entire axial magnetic bearing and control system is studied and designed.Main work reflects on:(1) According to the specific requirements of application, the mathematical model is established ,the mechanical structure and electromagnetic coil of the axial magnetic bearing are designed.(2) According to the characteristics of the axial magnetic bearings and the study of the displacement detection, the capacitance displacement sensors with the advantages of simple structure, good dynamic characteristics, high precision and low costs, is desinged as the detection device of magnetic bearing.(3) By studying the commen control methods applied in magnetic bearings, we creatively design the PWM signal to control coil switch, and simplify the structure of control system without the power amplifier design. The application of self-designed capacitance displacement sensor which is used in the magnetic bearing as the detection device and the design of control system without devoting to the power amplifier design are successfully realized in this paper. The axial magnetic bearing designed has the advantages of high controlling precision, carrying capacity and stiffness, strong anti-disturbance, what is more, lower costs and simpler control system structure.
