Shield machine was used widely in underground engineer constructions, such as construction of subway and orbit traffic. Disc cutter is an important tool of shield machine to crush the rock during excavating tunnel. It is a mechanical method having the advantages of large rock-fragmentation and fast rock-fragmention. It directly affect the excavation efficiency of shield machine. It has important significance to study the disc cutter's rock-fragmentation mechanism, structure and force prediction model during cutting process. It can improve life of cutter and optimal layout and realize high efficiency and low energy consumption tunnel excavation. The paper complete contents as below:This paper analyses the mechanism of disc cutter's rock-fragmentation and the fragment style of rock by disc cutter. it is considered that while disc cutter cutting rocks, one part of rock under cutting edge was squeezing and fractured and formed compacting nucleus, the other part was fragmented due to shear.According to the fragment style of rock, this paper established prediction model of vertical force, roll force and side force, and compare with Colorado linear cutting model, Colorado CSM model and test data. It was verified that the error of this paper's model is less than the other two models.According the data by test, material model was created in ANSYS/DYNA simulation code. This paper did numerical simulation of concrete cutting and rock cutting by disc cutter and numerical simulation of rock penetration by sphere tooth cutter.This paper do mechanical properties test of sand rock and concrete sample, obtained material model parameter. This paper do rock penetration and rock cutting by sphere tooth cutter experiment,and also do concrete cutting by disc cutter experiment. Analysed the result, verified the correction of the numerical simulation.
