Temperature, express the degree of heat and cold,is a physical measure, and one of important parameter of measure and control in industry produce. During the smelting of the steel and iron, the temperature of the molten iron and steel liquid is one of the most critical parameters which affect the quality of steel and iron. Temperature measurements of molten steel are extremely important in steel-making process. The temperature of molten steel is so high and testing environment is so bad that the steel-making temperature measurements become a problem in molten steel industry. To develop rapid, accurate and continuous temperature gauges of molten steel to increase yield and quality of steel products has important significance.The paper is based on continuous measurement of molten steel's temperature. Combining with the actual temperature measurement environment, we will design Instrument on Molten steel's Temperature Based on the MCU System. In the paper, the academic basement and its application are given detailed introduction. According to some basic theories and the law on the black object radiation, we calculated the formula of colorimetry and in the meanwhile we analyzed the advantages of the method. That is the colorimetry can greatly lower the blast-off rate which influence the result of the temperature measurement. Under the best term, the influence can decline to zero. The design of this system can be divided into 3 parts:the structure design of detector for high temperature, a-optical- electric transformation, magnifying signal and processing course. The concrete process is as follows. Firstly, we use the detector to take the light signal and then make it transmit through the optical fiber. Secondly, the signal goes into a both length modulator, which install two different frequency's narrowband filter chip and run by controlled electromotor.The two signals commit optical-electric transformation, application, filter and enter the A/D1674 at different time. Thirdly, A/D1674 sending the changed digital signal into the AT89C51 single-chip microcomputer to deal with. The disposed data is sent into display to show the temperature of steel and iron. As to the software, the corresponding software was designed by modular design concepts and the software removed interference by digital filtering. After the pass of the debugging of the whole system, we use E6000/T emulator to test and thus we save a lot of time. At last through the simulated experiment, we validated the near linear relationship between the light intensity and the voltage,in the same time we analyzed the error of the system.In a word, the optical-fiber instrument on molten steel's temperature has more advantages than the other measuring methods in the high temperature field. For example:it can realize continuous measurement of molten steel's temperature and the cost is lower than the traditional method. The text illustrates the feasibility of colorimetry on molten steel's temperature and also it clarifies the advancement and the necessarily of the optical fiber technology in the high temperature field.
