Serial experiments were conducted by use of the different doses of daidzein and ipriflavone in the pubertal male mice, to study their effect on the sperm quality, testis gain and the level of plasma testosterone and to explore its mechanism of reaction involved. The effect of daidzein on the sperm quality, testis gain and the level of plasma testosterone in male mice 1. Daidzein (5mg/kg ration) was fed to the 45-day old male mice (n~l6). Plasma testosterone levels increased significantly (pO.O5). Misshape rate of spermatozoa were decreased and the rate of intact acrosome improved (p>O.OS). 3. When daidzein in 1000mg/kg ration was applied to the ration in pubertal male mice (n 14), the concentration of plasma testosterone decreased significantly (pO.O5). The misshape rate of spermatozoa increased and the weight of testis were not significantly improved. The effect of ipriflavone on the sperm quality, testis gain and the level of plasma testosterone in male mice 1. After ipriflavone in the dose of 5mg/kg ration was applied to the 52 pubertal male mice (n= 14), plasma testosterone increased. Live rate of spermatozoa increased significantly (p<0.05). Misshape rate of spermatozoa decreased (pO.05). Misshape rate and the rate of intact acrosome improved slightly (p>O.O5). 3. When the high-dosage ipriflavone (1000mg/kg ration ) was supplemented to male mice ration (n= 15), the plasma testosterone concentration decreased significantly (p<0.05). Live rate of spermatozoa, weight of testis and misshape rate of spermatozoa decreased, but no significant different were found. The result in this study showed that there were the different effects of the various dosages of daidzein and ipriflavone on the sperm quality, testis gain and the level of plasma testosterone in male mice. Low- dosage could improve the sperm quality, testis gain and the level of plasma testosterone, but high-dosage had the inhibitory tendency.
