STUDY ON THE APPLICATION OF LIME TO SICHUAN ACID SOIL Zhang Tianbin (Department of Environmental Protect, S ichuan Agricultural University, Ya抋n Sichuan 625014) Abstract The theme of low pH, aluminum, manganese toxicity along with some elements lacking in acid soils had already been paid widespread attention. For the first time, quick-test, incubation study, pot experiments and field experiments were systematically employed to study the effect of liming on fertility of acid soils in Sichuan. Comparative studies were carried out to compare the single-buffer method, double-buffer method and the titration method. The three methods can determine the LR rapidly in laboratory. This study showed that the new titration method used in this text was accurate and convenient for operation. Incubation study cooperated the lab determination can validate whether or not the method is correct. Pot experiments were carried on three soils and three crops. NPK plus lime significantly increased plant growth and yield compared to NPK only. To soybean, maize and green pepper it comes to the same conclusion. In the application of some CaCO3 to acid soil, its acidity would return to normal, but when it was added more CaCO3, caused nutrition unbalance and the biological yield of crop decreased again.
