At present, the major problem of forest in China is that fragmentation and large areas of secondary forest and planted forest, which makes great changes in nature and landscape arrangement of forest and leads to succession and regeneration declining of forest as well as decrease of species diversity. Due to the complexity and severity of the habitat along with tense man-land relationship in the Karst areas, the above questions become even more serious in forest of Karst areas. For this reason, it is necessary to understand and evaluate the present situation from vertical structure and the horizontal pattern so as to provide a good basis for regional forest management, protection and restoration of regional vegetation landscape. Bush Vitality Assessment is conducted on the above two levels, with the initial approach made by David Parkes (2003) and improved then systematized by Helmut(2004).With the former forest ecological evaluation and bush vitality assessment approaches and the world geographical park of Shilin as case, adopting "distance type" evaluation theory and approach of scoring, this paper puts forward a forest vigorous evaluation system on the basis of vertical structure and the horizontal pattern. Also it makes evaluation research to five kinds of forest vegetation, including: Form. Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides{goa\ community), Form. Olea yunnanensis,Cyclobalanopsis glaucoide, Form.Olea yunnanensis,Form. Neolitsea homilantha and Form. Pinus yunnananensis. The specific evaluation method is to define seven evaluation programs and the evaluation index, aiming to protection and restoration of the goal community (Climax community) These seven assessment programs consists: succession potential, regeneration potential, species diversity, comprehensive story, habitat integrity, forest patch resistance and the level of species source. According to different evaluation program and index as wells as the characters of community, we can get the vitality value, Different vitality value shows different level of forest, by which we can assess the whole vitality level of a certain regional forest.The above assessment result shows that, except the Form. Pinus yunnananensis, other forests all succession potential higher than middle-level; Form. Olea yunnanensis,Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides and Form. Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides, Olea yunnanensis have stronger renewing potential than others; The species diversity order of Form. Neolitsea homilantha, Form. Pinus yunnananensis, Form.Olea yunnanensis, Form. Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides is increasing step by step as herb layer, bush layer, tree layer and germination layer; there is great difference between the comprehensive levels of evaluating vegetation groups and target groups; other forest habitat are degeneration to different extent except Form. Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides; all the forests patch have weak anti-interference ability and the levels of species source are low too; the vigor levels are decreasing as the order of Form. Cyclobalanopsis glaucoides(goa\ community), Form. Olea yunnanensis.Cyclobalanopsis glaucoide, Form.Olea yunnanensis,Form. Neolitsea homilantha and Form. Pinus yunnananensis; the regional vitality levels are after lower first increased by a small range from the entire Shilin Park, the core area and the specially-protected area.On the basis of restoration and protection of present vegetation, carry out natural closing the land for reforestation and auxiliary management so that the native vegetation landscape can be well improved and restored in Shiln park.
