The Introduction Of Rose Varieties, Classification And Comprehensive Evaluation

Collect Rosa cultivars from all over China, build garden of Rosa germplasm resource which includes five groups 110 cultivars. Then identify some representative cultivars of them on the base of morphological taxonomy and numerical taxonomy. In addition, comprehensive appraisal was made on the following aspects: Rosa cultivars' own ornamental characteristics, adaptability to the environment, value in the production and application in the landscape. First, 36 morphological index were chosen and coded. The principal component analysis considered that the flower character is the first criterion in the cultivar taxonomy of Rosa chinensis, the stub type is the second criterion and the leaf character is the third criterion. Then Q-cluster analysis was made using the main morphological index re-chosen after principal component analysis and R-cluster analysis. Result showed that the 24 cultivars could be classified into 5 groups. The first group included 14 cultivars: Rosa 'Belami's',Rosa 'First White',Rosa 'Jubilation',Rosa 'Shuo',Rosa 'Cara Mia',Rosa 'Minor',Rosa 'Sonia Meilland',Rosa 'Grandy Masterpiece',Rosa 'Charles Mallerin',Rosa 'Cherry Brandy',Rosa 'Hiogi',Rosa 'Acrobatics',Rosa 'Lady Meillandina' and Rosa 'Kardinal'. The second group included 4 cultivars: Rosa 'Xanadu',Rosa 'Flower Fair',Rosa 'Reading Desk',and Rosa 'West'. The third group included 2 cultivars: Rosa 'Red hat' and Rosa 'Sohloss Manhieim'. The forth group included 2 cultivars: Rosa 'Purple Time' and Rosa 'Sunny Girl'. The fifth group included 2 cultivars: Rosa 'Kent' and Rosa 'Red Meidiland'. In the following, 5 aspects including Rosa's ornamental characteristics (such as trunk, leaf and flower characteristics), edible value, medical value, adaptability to the environment and application in the landscape were comprehensively appraisal led and application in the landscape was emphasized. Rosa's application in the landscape includes cut flower production and soil nursing: rose, chrysanthemum, carnation and calamus are the four cut flowers in the world; soil nursing includes the basic plant and special garden construction. The basic plant includes arrangement of flower-bed and rocks, fence, rose trees, arrangement with hydrophilic plants and arrangement inside. Rosa special garden construction includes rose special garden and experimental garden, rose and the vessel garden, rose and the roof garden and so on.
