Objective:To Study on expression of PI3K, AKT, and mTOR in invasive pituitary adenomas and explore its relationship with the invasiveness of pituitary adenomas.Methods:61 cases of pituitary adenomas are divided into two groups of invasive and non-invasive. The protein expressions of PI3K,AKT and mTOR were detected by Immunohistochemistry analysis and their mRNA expressions were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in the invasive and non-invasive pituitary adenomas. We used statistical method of t test andΧ2 test to analysis the data and finally clear the different mRNA and protein expressions of these three indicators between invasive pituitary adenomas and non-invasive pituitary adenomas.Results:31 speciments were invasive pituitary adenomas and 30 spaeciments were non-invasive pituitary adenomas in all detected pituitary adenomas. The result showed the positive Immunohistochemistry result of PI3K in invasive and noninvasive pituitary adenomas are 61.29% and 33.33%;the result of AKT are 74.19% and 43.33%,the result of mTOR are 54.84% and 26.27%. The PCR result of PI3K in invasive and noninvasive pituitary adenomas are 0.7066±0.599 and 0.5909±0.803; the result of AKT are 0.8427±0.094 and 0.7175±0.044,the result of mTOR are 0.7530±0.071 and 0.6562±0.022.The results showed that PI3K, AKT and mTOR expression levels of mRNA and protein was significantly higher in invasive pituitary adenoma group than in non-invasive group. Results has statistical significance (P<0.05)Conclusion:The higher expressions of PI3K, AKT and mTOR played an important role for the invasion in pituitary adenoma. They can activate the signal amplification effect and other bioactive molecules to promote the growth of invasive pituitary adenomas, and enhance the performance of its invasion.
